Altaria Hub
Altaria Hub Marketplace
Designing a Scalable Web & Mobile Marketplace for Modern Parenting Needs
2024
Shopping for baby essentials can be overwhelming. Parents often juggle multiple stores, unreliable delivery options, and fragmented information. Altaria Hub was created to solve this problem by offering a unified platform where parents can discover baby products, access childcare services, attend relevant events, and receive reliable delivery all in one place. I worked as the product designer on this project, designing the end-to-end experience across web and mobile for parents, vendors, and logistics partners.

Project Overview
Altaria Hub goes beyond a traditional marketplace by offering - 1) A consumer-facing shopping experience for baby and child essentials. 2) A vendor dashboard for businesses to list and manage products. 3) A logistics partner section to support order fulfillment and delivery. 4) An events module where users can discover childcare-related events and RSVP. 5) A fully designed mobile application to support on-the-go usage.
To design a scalable, multi-sided e-commerce platform that seamlessly connects parents and caregivers with baby products, trusted vendors, logistics partners, and childcare events through an intuitive web and mobile experience.
Parents and caregivers often rely on physically visiting multiple stores to purchase baby essentials which is a stressful and demanding process, especially for those who have just conceived or are heavily pregnant. In addition, managing delivery, finding trusted vendors, and accessing childcare information are often spread across different platforms. Altaria Hub was created to eliminate this friction by enabling parents to discover and purchase baby products, arrange delivery, and access childcare-related events with just a few clicks from the comfort of their homes. From a design perspective, the challenge was to balance the needs of multiple user groups while delivering a cohesive and scalable web and mobile experience.
Registry: Simplifying Baby Preparation
The Registry feature was designed with empathy for expectant parents, particularly those who may find in-store shopping physically demanding or stressful. The primary goal was to minimize effort while maximizing clarity and confidence throughout the experience.
The Registry feature enables parents to create and share a personalized list of baby essentials, allowing friends and family to contribute seamlessly. Items can be added directly from the marketplace, shared via a link, and delivered through trusted logistics partners. The experience was designed to be simple, stress-free, and accessible across web and mobile.
To achieve this, the registry was embedded directly into the shopping flow, allowing users to add items without breaking context. This reduced cognitive load and removed unnecessary steps between discovery and planning. Sharing was designed to be frictionless, enabling friends and family to contribute without complex onboarding, which encourages participation and prevents coordination challenges. Clear purchase states were introduced to prevent duplicate gifting and give both registry owners and contributors visibility into progress. Finally, the experience was optimized across web and mobile to ensure parents could manage their registry anytime, anywhere. Overall, the design balances emotional sensitivity, usability, and scalability—supporting both individual preparation and shared participation within the broader Altaria Hub ecosystem.
Management Portals
To support the multi-sided ecosystem of Altaria Hub, I designed a set of management portals for key stakeholders which are vendors, logistics partners, and platform admins. These portals enable businesses to efficiently manage products, track orders, coordinate deliveries, and oversee platform operations, all while maintaining a seamless and intuitive experience. The design focused on clarity, usability, and scalability to ensure that each user group could accomplish their tasks quickly and effectively.
Management Portals: Vendor, Logistics, and Admin Systems Each portal was crafted to address the unique needs of its users while maintaining consistency across the ecosystem. The Vendor Portal enables sellers to list and manage products, track inventory, and monitor orders and sales performance through a centralized dashboard. The Logistics Portal supports order fulfillment by allowing logistics partners to view incoming deliveries, update shipment statuses, and coordinate operations efficiently. The Admin Portal provides full platform oversight, enabling administrators to manage users, vendors, logistics partners, orders, and events while ensuring smooth platform operations. Across all portals, the design focused on clarity, efficiency, and scalability ensuring stakeholders can perform critical tasks quickly while supporting the long-term growth of the platform.
Altaria Hub challenged me to design a cohesive experience across a complex, multi-sided ecosystem serving parents, vendors, logistics partners, and administrators. Through thoughtful user-centered design, I created intuitive web and mobile experiences that simplify baby shopping, streamline operations for partners, and support scalable platform growth. This project strengthened my ability to balance user needs with business goals while designing systems that work seamlessly across multiple touchpoints.
