Physicians Copilot was conceived to address a growing challenge in modern healthcare: physicians are expected to make fast, high-stakes clinical decisions while navigating fragmented tools, heavy documentation, and constantly evolving medical knowledge. Existing solutions often focus on isolated tasks, forcing doctors to switch between multiple platforms during patient care.

Using AI to support faster, safer clinical decisions for physicians
Physicians' Copilot is built to be operated primarily on Computer-on-Wheels (COW).It is an AI-powered clinical assistant that brings essential support into one cohesive experience. It combines a clinical AI chatbot, CME resources, and practical tools such as calculators, note-taking, and medical references—allowing physicians to access guidance, learn, and document care within the same workflow.
Clinical AI Copilot
The copilot was designed to support 'not replace' clinical judgment. Key design decisions emphasized clarity over verbosity, structured responses over free text, and transparency in AI outputs to build trust. By reducing cognitive load and embedding guidance directly into the physician’s workflow, the copilot enables faster, more confident decision-making at the point of care.
We designed the Clinical AI Copilot by starting with an understanding of real clinical workflows, focusing on how physicians seek information during routine care and high-pressure situations. Early concepts were validated through beta testing, with feedback guiding improvements in conversation structure, response clarity, and interaction flow. The feature evolved iteratively to balance speed, accuracy, and usability while maintaining clinical trust.
Continuing Medical Education (CME)
We designed the CME integration by first understanding physicians’ learning needs and how they prefer to access educational content during clinical workflows. Wireframes and prototypes were tested with beta users to ensure the experience was seamless, contextual, and non-disruptive. Iterative feedback refined navigation, content discovery, and linking of CME materials directly to clinical queries from the AI Copilot.
The CME feature was designed to make learning immediate, relevant, and actionable. By connecting educational content directly to clinical questions and AI responses, physicians can reinforce knowledge in real-time without leaving the workflow. This approach promotes ongoing learning while enhancing trust and adoption of the platform.
Physicians' Copilot demonstrates how thoughtful design can bridge AI capabilities with real-world clinical workflows. By combining an AI-driven clinical assistant with contextual CME integration, the product empowers physicians to make faster, safer decisions while continuously learning. Beta testing informed key design choices that balanced usability, trust, and accuracy, resulting in a live product that supports physicians in both routine and high-pressure scenarios.
